Swimmin' with the fishes
Okay.... so someone in my area is selling a 28"+ temensis for $150. Problem is I only have a 300g tank (96x30x30). I feel like that's not big enough for such a beast. But it's such a good deal! But I don't want to be a bad "parent" to this fish...

Any way I could make it work? Really someone just needs to talk me out of it.

Id get it if you feel like it will never get an upgrade from that 240.
An extra 6" in width goes a long way. If you plan on upgrading grab it for sure.

It could go to someone with a tank similar sized or bigger, but not a guarantee. He wants it to go to someone who knows what they're doing, and so far I'm the lead in that of those who have contacted him.

However I don't plan on upgrading anytime in the near future.

I'm just worried about my other fish and it getting along if I did get it

Yea, your other fish do seem like they would become a snack for that Beast! So possibly could you put both your oscar and datnoid in a smaller tank like possibly a 125?

My 125 is already crazy overstocked. The datnoid could go in there, but would terrorize the tank. The oscars would DEFINITELY eat and/or kill some of the other fish. I'm still debating if I want to move the datnoid back over or not. The RTC that's currently king of the tank is getting a bit big (20") and looks like he could try and go after said datnoid. But I feel like if the RTC can't take down the oscars or datnoid, then this beast might not be able to either? Or is that just a fancy dream?

for reference: RTC will be moving to 4600g pond once i finish dealing with the car wash detergent that got in to it... different story.

It's always hard to say what a pbass would do in aquarium. If he's not with other large fish right now, might be a hard adjustment later. Tough call Heretix! I myself would want something smaller to grow out.

well i've already got 6 growing out... So that's definitely a start. I will say this guy is with 2 big RTC, but not sure if that counts since they rarely come near each other except during feedings
