THanks for the kind words. It is a T. macrostoma. Got it wild from Old World about a year ago and unloaded all of his tankmates but couldnt part with him. Its the only tank I have where he would do ok.
As for the plants, they are plastic bamboo plants. They sell them at most lfs.
As for the drop eye.....Im not sure, but a theory for me is this. They were starting to get it when I had silver dollars and other Cichlasomines in the tank with them. They were always below and on constant lookout for getting nipped or bitten. I got rid of the other fish and they stopped looking down. Probably just coincidence....
