in that case optima would be quite similar, possibly a few degrees higher (but this would likely be a negligible difference for aquaria) --

at that temp it probably won't make too much of a difference, so i wouldn't worry about it. gars are often kept at somewhat warmer than optimal temps in aquaria because they are kept with other fishes that require tropical temps...this is where the versatility of gars comes in handy.--

its always 30 degrees. what are some good methods of cooling the water? i tried dropping some ice in the sump. but it doesnt seem to be effective. only works for a couple of minutes...
