I need advice on controlling the temperatures on my two smaller tanks both are 10's
tank one guppy tank has a preset heater setpoint is 78
It doesn't drop below 76 this is the good the problem is that in Ohio the spring temps during a hot day heat both my tanks to around 82 if they would stay there the heater's could just be a back up but at night we still can hit the mid 30's or 40's and the temp droppes to 76 and the heater starts giving me a six degree temp difference occasionally more the fan helps but if the day starts nasty I can forget to leave it on

tank 2 swordtails has a adjustable heater this one may actually be worse as the stupid things set seems to be above room temp as the same setting can at night be OFF at around 76 and the next day be ON when the thermometer reads 86 if I turn it down one notch the next cold night the temp can drop to 74

none off the fish seem to mind the growouts in the guppy tank are getting bigger everyone is eating fine the livebearers are breeding the glass shrimp eat the pond snails ect

my other tank dosn't have this problem it stays at 82 give or take 2 degrees but normally the hous's ac or heater will kick in before the tank gets above 84 or under 80

any body know how to fix this

If I understand correctly, it sounds like your first heater isn't adjustable. If you want to keep the temp at 82 so there is no temp change, you'd need to buy an adjustable heater or one with a higher preset.

The second heater either has a faulty thermostat or is just very finnicky.

Either way, you'll probably want to look into new/better heaters.
