Temperature for Dats and bass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would just make sure you have lots of aeration and not worry to much about the high temps. As long as the temps are fairly stable and you keep up on the water changes your fish will just grow faster and be more active. You could also try to hang your lights so there's some space between them and the tank to help reduce the heating from the lights.

I would keep mine at 85 also when I had juvenile dats and bass.
The higher temperature speeds up their metabolism and helps against fight ich and other parasites that dats and bass are prone to getting when young. I keep mine at 82 degrees now.

I keep mine 77-82 most of the year and then during the summer months 84-88 is the range their in with plenty of air stones and current.

Are we talking about Peacock Bass? I'd turn it down a notch. Even though they can take higher temps than other fish, I'd keep it around 80F-84F
