What is the minimum temp for Rays to be kept safely?

My 12' community drops to 72 F in the winter. My Lince cat, Niger, L. Marmoratus, Adonis plec, Giant Gourami and cichlids are fine in it but I wonder whether my Rays can be moved into when bigger?

Cheers now

76 is the lowest ive seen them kept in... i would add a few extra heaters and atleast keep it at 78

depending on type of ray I ould have to say 80 minimum... Very hardy rays could possibly do ok in 78ish but I wouldn't recommend it.. In the wild most rays are in 80-95F temp

I keep my rays at about 84F

Is this a factual statement? 95F sounds like an exaggeration.

some real sunny areas in the shallows that temp is very possible...

its best not to go over 90F in a tank. it causes a lot of problems.
Low oxygen
higher ammonia
and even more consequences; the list continues
id say a good range is between 78-82F. i keep my tank constantly at 81.9.

my question is: how much variation of temp. does it take to hurt a ray in a days time.
i.e. if the water is 82F at 12 pm and then its 80F at 12 am? are we talking really harmful?

I find it hard to believe a two degree change in temp over 12 hours is going to affect a ray.
It will go through a much larger change going from 1-2 ft of water basking in the sun to deep waters
in shade in a matter of a few seconds.
