Just curious when it comes to tank temperature do people go on the 78 to 80 side of things or go with the 80 to 82. Just a curiosity thing; I know it depends on fish but this is for a typical average tropical aquarium temps that I'm curious what people do. Happy fish keeping.

Yes, it actually depends on fish, because if you keeping community fish like: Tetras, Mollies, and Rasboras, etc. you want to keep it at the 78 to 80 range, if not lower. Although, if you're keeping Cichlids, Snooks, or other types of big fish, you want to keep it at around 80 to 82.

Yes I understand fish matters but the range still exists for cichlids to go from 78-82.

During the summer I turn the heaters off and it dips down to 74ish at night and to 80ish during the day.

During the winter it's around 78 or lower, I turn the heaters on low. Gotta save my extra cents where possible. lol

well i would keep mine at 78 to 80 but granny is making me take the heater out so now my tank stays at 70 at nite to 75 during the day sometimes when the woodstove gets hot its at 78.

Since I asked the question i probably should say what I do...77 to 82 typically depending on the location of the tank and the size.

Betta tank = whatever temp the house is
Trimac tank = 78-79F
Discus= 85-86F
