Blue spots live in swamps, slow often close to stagnant water. But adding extra aeration will not hurt them and is always a plus. Just because they survive low oxygen levels in the wild doesn't mean they need such and environment. keep them in clean well oxygenated water and they should do well. They are hardy easy to keep fishes.
