TEMPERATURE

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm thinking a lot of this is going to have something to do with the way there acclimated into those environments. They may live and they may not, but its still not the best temp for a reef tank. The wild coral reefs are suffering massive bleaching die off all over the world because the temp of the water has increased due to global worming. Now i understand that ocean conditions almost never change, so one small change causes issues but its the same exact concept........ Tank raised frags are much hardier then wild picked corals for obvious reasons, but I've had fish survive events that someone may not have had any luck with. So its a mixed response but still ideal temp for a reef tank is 76-78 with 80 being close to the limit.

What is gassing, never heard of it? So i'm assuming corallimorphs must be hardy if i have kept them alive at 32deg/c? If i set my max tank temp allowance to 86 deg/
F would all corals be ok in that for 2-3 mths/year? Have read about someone keeping their reef max 85 in summer but i don't know if they had any probs.

mushrooms? im going with a yeah on this one

off-gassing when a solution cannot hold anymore solute (or goes beyond the point of holding a solute) and the solute comes out of suspension

when you heat water it holds less and less oxygen, the hotter the water becomes the less oxygen there is to support life and it generally fails.

it's like the bends, exept that's with pressure instead of temperature
