only ever seen them for sale as florida spotted here in the uk
noware is ever specific

both species are basically the same

same size/ temprement etc

yeh i have one mate they are fantastic fish, mine is only 8 1/2" but have seen some 18-20" for sale near me they look so menesing as adults

where abouts in the uk you from?

lol gars are quite timid the puffer would eat it like spaggetti lol

I'd say fl/spotted. As for armored catfish compatibility, if its a little one like a spotted or striped Rafael, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Mine just troll the bottom looking for scraps.
