So after visiting my local fish store and seeing multiple 3-4 inch jags I cant help but get the idea out of my head to get another tank and save them from the 20+ gallon size sticker they have on their tank. What would be a min tank size for a pair of these. I was thinking anywhere from 90-125 possible or no?

125 gallons + for a pair for life and they can only go in a 30 gallon for a short time.

I'd say 180 for a pair. The extra 6" of width is a must for a full grown male.

Minimum is 75 gallons IMO. 125 would be perfectly fine.

6' footprint tank would be fine for jags, the females are a bit more docile than males and once a pair bonds they're not quite as nasty as other cichlids - I'd say a 120 gallon would be more than enough.
