What water conditioner are you using? Are you running a water softener? I would get a TDS meter and measure the total dissolved solid level of your tank water versus the pet store water. Osmotic shock can cause a fish to slowly die if the TDS of the water they are going into is much less than that of the pet store water. You can get a TDS meter for $15 USD.
