Okay so when I moved my fish back into my 55g after i resealed it, my 2 JD's started lip locking and spinning and stopped after a few minutes. One of them became darker colored again, while the other isnt. My tiger barbs just started doing the same thing I managed to get a vid of it and im uploading it to youtube now and will post a link. My Male con just did it with the darker colored JD before my 2 tiger barbs started. What are they doing? I cant tell if theyre trying to spawn or figuring out whos going to dominate the tank?

They are establishing a pecking order. Everytime there is dissaray in a tank; moving decorations, adding new fish, etc. there will be changes in the social hierarchy. My tiger barbs do this often, sometimes after a large water change, but especially after 1 of their fellow pack members died.

oh thats wierd lol, theres still just the three of them, theyve been in there since yesterday and just did it today, along with my jd's and my convict and JD. now both the JD's arent boldly colored and my male white con is showing his striped abruptly. This is also wierd, my male and female con were inseperable and now they stick to themselves they dont go near eachother anymore? Must of had a divorce..

ah probably, theyve been in there before but prolly dont remember they were all our for about 4-5 days while i was resealing it and getting stuff to rescape the tank and to fix the stand. my female con is a fighter though I swear she went atleast 15 hours in a 1" of water without aeration or filtration. I thought I got her into the tub i bought to put them in while i was reseailing it and when I woke up and started drainging the rest of the water out of the tank I saw her flippn in the water and i was like holy S***. I checked my tank for like an hour and I never saw her so i thought she was in the tub but i was wrong

Agreed it will likely work itself out, but watch for too much aggression. This is part of keeping aggressive cichlids.

yeah my male con is very aggressive... I swear theres something wrong with my JDs and Cons though because they havent grown at all and ive had them since around the week of christmas.
