i got a lot of test kits i pick up here and there im not a water parameter freak
but if my tanks out of wack id like to know why

I test my water the day of a water change. So once a week. My tank has been established for years but I still test. Clear water doesn't always mean clean water. To much invested to not test. Just my opinion.

WOW that really sucks thats a lotta money down the drain! well if ya feel like getting another one theres a nice sized tig up in the Hartford Ct area if you feel like making a drive

thanks...getting another one isn't a problem it's just i want to see what the water parameters are before getting another one so i don't have to keep throwing money away. i'd rather a amall one i like seeing the color fade and the stripes come in. like wine tigs get better with age....on the other hand i'm seriously thinking about throwing in the towel with the tigs and trying my hand with some rays.

I try to stay on my maintainence routine so there should be nothing wrong with my water so I randomly test when I am just sitting there watching them.

What kind of test kit is good? I looked at petsmart but wasn't sure if I should change brands.

i use the 5 in one strips, but im sure they arent the best. The best is prob the kind where you mix up the water in the little vile and match the colors
