i have a master test kit from api but it doesnt have some test kits that i seen at lfs suck as kh gh&kh what are the key test to have other than the nitrite,nitrate,ph,amonia tests

depends on what you are doing... what kind of fish are you keeping? are you doing a planted tank?

This is true. The master kits come with all the common chemical tests for either fresh or saltwater "fish tanks". However I know with s/w, if you are keeping corals you will have to buy several other test kits because the perimeters of a reef tank are way different

When it comes to f/w I don't really know because I always had fish only tanks

im keeping african cichlids in my tanks along woth synodontis cats

so you may want to pay attention to water harndness.. i havnt really kept them yet but im sure it may be important. aside from that i think your fine with what you have.
