You need to get more bio media like eheim substrat or those porous ceramic rings for your filter.
I dont think you have any porous rock. If im right in it being rocks with holes and crevesas in it for bacteria to grow in. I dont know if any of the bigger rocks in one of my tanks might help. Let me know boys. Try a 50+ water change, it might help.
You can also seed your filter with sludge from the one you are running now. Your parameters are a bit off, ammonia and nitrite should be zero, If you are keeping scalaris angel and want them to breed try to get your ph to between 6.0 and 7.0, for altums between 5.5 and 6.2. temp around 80-82 degrees.
yep the amonia and nitrite are high. do a 50% water change but try not to disturb the gravel, because that's where most of your beneficial bacteria are right now. also you might try adding zeolite or ammocarb(aquarium pharmacuticles) to your filter untill things settle down. that will also help with phosphates which in turn lead to algae.
