way too small to get the right answer. Red texas, fhs, hybrids all could look like this when this size. It's much more than an egg,but it's as close and still hard.. And one picture without a tail makes it impossible for any person to be certain.

but i'll guess first generation red texas breed or kml fh x midas ??????

this is fun but need to show us more of the fish :)

The fish is 3½" tip to tip. I don't think it is that small to be unable to identify. It's just one of those harder fish to identify. But since you mentioned about the missing tail...here's another picture w/ most of it's tail. I don't think tail is that important on identification IMO.
