So I know food debates always get out of hand, But I was wondering how many MFK'ers use and stand by the results of tetra color bits. I have used them for years as a supplement to NLS. Don't know if they actually enhance my fishes colors, but its part of my routine.

So what results does everyone have?

I used Tetra Bits for years to feed my small and grow out cichlids until I discovered NLS pellets. Tetra bits are sinker and softer than NLS, and I don't know of any fish that don't like it. But it has red dye that stains the water, and the bottom of the can get powderly. I used to employ a fish net to screen out the larger particles, and collect the powderly dust for fry. After discovering NLS 1 mm pellets, I stopped using Tetra Bits.

Alot of discus keepers use them, some of those guys have started to switch over to the Sera brand pellets though. I'm not a big fan of the tetra color bits - most fish will take them w/o a problem but I've found them to be really messy.

I never noticed much of any difference no matter what pellets I use. I currently use NLS & cichlid crisps I get from AngelfishUSA. The crisps are about average in regards to ingredients, but I get a really strong feeding response on them.

IMO water quality is way more important than what type of pellet is fed.
Good stock + clean water = great fish.

I use these for the angelfish, discus and geos in my tank along with sinking cichlid gold for the bigger fish. Can't really compare it to anything because it's all I've ever used.

how are the color enhancing results?

Every vendor claims that its food has special color enhancing quality. I don't buy that. The color of the fish depends on genetic, good health, good water quality, and low stress. You can't bring out the color of the fish with magic food if they are unhealthy or unhappy.

I agree that fish love this stuff. I've never had a fish refuse them. But I have refrained from feeding these once I became more educated on ingredient content of my foods. You can do much better for your stock if you just do some minor research. To each his own, so just my .02.
