What's with this stuff? No water changes for 6 months?! Also does not remove chlorine or chloramines. Good thing I read the label. The wife brought it home.

I got some with a tank I bought it was brand new never opened. I am just curious if the nitraban works. I am also curious if its a good thing to use if I have to leave for a week or two and cant do water changes. The 6 month claim as I am sure you already know is complete BS

I have'nt got a test kit atm. It may be useful in a case like that. No wc's is bs in my book.

I got a test kit but I dont want to rely on tetra credibility for my fish you know lol .

This stuff is a joke, no water changes for 6 months my butt.. If you read the label close enough, you have to add this stuff once a week. Plus it doesnt remove chlorine/chloramine..It may be just me but id rather do my water changes once a week this way i know for sure whats happening in my tank. just my 2 pennies

i'll test it on a bunch of feeder guppies i have when i go to college lol. you are going to have to wait until like next year though...i start in August so i guess February would be nine months, i'll post something. i believe it is bs also

Feeder guppies may not be hardy enough. I would go for mosquito fish :) On another note what does a tank without water changes for 6 months smell like? Good luck getting action in college with that tank putrifying :) I kid ofcourse

First off, yes, you still have to change the water. I use this stuff on my Fiance's tank because I cant always get over there for wc's. It has some kind of nitrate absorbing/exchange resin crystals in it that SLOWS the build-up of nitrates. I put in a dose before I leave for a couple days, then when I get back, the water is exactly as I left it. I would not dose the tank every week & leave it for 6 months like the package says. It may buy you a week or two...max. It has some other good stuff in it though. Trace minerals, pH & KH stabilizers, blah blah. 1 big bottle has lasted me easily over a year. BTW, it turns the water yellow for a few hours & you can see the crystals floating around until they settle. Great for checking flow pattern in the tank!

Regular use of Easybalance* reduces the strenuous and time-consuming trouble of frequent water changes by keeping aquarium water biologically and chemically balanced for up to 6 months.

Reduces phosphate levels for improved water quality.
Alkalinity(KH) and pH stabilizers prevent sudden, dramatic swings in pH that can be harmful to fish.

Adds the vitamins, trace elements and minerals essential for a healthy aquarium.

The regular addition of Nitraban*, nitrate reducing granules, to aquarium keeps nitrate levels low.
