I keep my Heterospila with Green Swords and they don't even look at them. I would think your bigger issue would be the Fen.

If you were thinking tiger barbs but don’t want the nippy then you could try either black Ruby barbs or Odessa barbs. Neither really look much until they start to colour up, but when they do they outshine tigers easily.
Odessa barbs were one of the fish I was initially considering, so looks like I have a few viable back up plans if need be. But I did pick up a group of 16 congo tetras a week ago, so they are currently in my 55gal for QT before they do into the 8ft tank.
