Well, my new 16" teugelsi jumped out of the tank. I found him laying on the glass top of my tank this morning, I have a canopy, so luckily, he didn't end up on the floor. He looked dead, but I poured water on him and noticed a small spasm. I got a zip-lock bag, filled it with water, and placed the teugelsi in it. He was alive! I put him back in the tank, but unfortunately, when I got home he had passed. I suppose he was out of the water too long to survive. He was also beat up and looked to have internal bleeding...I'm so angry, my 16" teugelsi! Moral of the story, keep at least 20 pounds of weight on your cover. I'm going to make a bar that slides up and then to the left. The only way to open the top will be by moving the bar both directions, which a fish surely can't do. I'll make a thread in the DIY section when I get started.

I'm boiling him now, to get the skeleton. Supposedly they look really nice, so at least I can look forward to that. I'll post pics of the skeleton later too.

ouch ouch ouch :(

my condolences :(

Thanks guys.

Uwe, yours is a monster, looking at the pictures of yours is what motivated me to get one. It was an honor to own, even for the short period that I had it...

Ouch, sorry to hear bro.

I also lost a teugelsi this way, I found him 20 ft away from the tank, how he got out is still a mistery.

All teugelsi keepers should really weight down there covers and make shure there are no holes!

Wow, 20 feet! I don't think weight is enough, there was weight, which probably prevented him from soaring like yours did. A lock is probably necessary.

That suxs. Sorry...

Thanks Adam, hurts loosing a fish like this...

BTW, the skeleton boiling is coming out alright. I got the bulk of the meat off as well as the insides. I'm now reboiling the skeleton to get all the left over particles off.
