I had the same exact problem with my teugelsi. I had a flagtail proc that ended up sucking him to death but I'm not sure if that's what caused the white marks in the first place. Personally I do not think it is caused by decor, heater or fighting. I think it's either a water quality issue or sucking problem. I wish I could find more out on it as well.
