I got my teugelsi today and beside his very different behavior compared to other bichirs i noticed alot of different morphiology. Forst of course is its long and elongated body. It looks like a mixture of ropefish and bichir. Another thing i noticed are his very small eyey compared to other bichirs. Bichirs in general have bad eye sight but i guess this guy is even worse but i also noiced many s,all pores on his lateral side going up to its head That looks similar to the pores of an electric eel. The teugelsi finds food very fast. Much faster than other bichirs. could it be he generates an electric field for orientation? Evrything is possible in that not very good nderstood fish group.

Wait till you get your moke. They are very similar. I think its because they are the most ancient of the bichirs.

i know, but those pores...how can i find out if it creates an electric field? that idea fascinates me. i lobe my bichirs...but that teugelsi is so mysterious. i sit her, and see him swim through the dark tank and he is so different compared to all others

How about some video so that those of us who have not had the pleasure of keeping one can see?

Do you mean the sensory pits?
Small holes like these on my Teug:

If so, then these are not unique to Teugelsi.
All Bichirs have them, just clearer to see on some.

Here you can see them all over one of my PBB's face:
