Teugulsi Size

Beblondie in the sticky says teugulsi get up to 16.75'', I got mine from toyin at around 4'' last summer and mine is a solid 18'' right now and isn't really slowing down and only a maybe a little over a year old. (by the way my avatar is old. lol)
Anyone know how big these guys actually get?? I know many don't keep them because they are harder to get, but I'm just wondering ball park what the max size may be down the road. Anyone have any pictures of any big ones? 2ft?
 
Yes they do get bigger than 16". I've seen some 23" before and they can probably get up even bigger. Anne's sticky were made long ago and there are more bichirs out there that got caught and bigger than what the record said them to be. There was a buettikoferri that was caught that was 21" when they say they max out 13". There are some senegalus in Turkana that get up to 16-20 inches when they record say they max out 13".
 
Rock, you're said in one year your teugelsi grew 14"? I find that a bit hard to believe to see a bichir grow more than 1" per month.

Thx Chris. They're actually 20" and 19" now. Both are eating a lot.

dang 20" now thats crazy mine just hit 12" growing super fast

i think my endli grew around 2.5-3 inches in one month but only that one month when it was around 4-5 inches, i think it had something to do with its tank mates disappearing lol :(
 
mines only 15" or so

There are different factors that effects a certain individual growth rate. I bought 3 tuegelsis 3 months ago and the two only grew 1.5". The other grew 3". They all came in the same size at 15" and they are all males.

ha..I have posts of when I got them and I can post ones of how big he is today. My teugulsi just eats like a horse and I do my best to keep up with the water changes, and he grows way faster than my delhezi's and palmas they seem to slow around 9-10'' and the teugulsi just keeps flying right on by. If you have a teugulsi you should see the difference in growth between them and other upper jaw man... that and I feed ROIDS. lol
Nahh actually he just eats everyday, unlike some of my other polys who eat when they feel like it. Expecially my moke. I feed them when I see them sniffing the water when I put in pellets for my top water fish, if they are ignoring I may as well keep the tank clean because they arn't hungry.
