Here's the common pet shop variety I got. I think they're mass bred in Florida.

yours looks to have more worm-like pattern,i can see distinct round spots on my fishes face.whatever the variety i am happy with them, without some proof from the store i realize they could be "mixed" carpintis

This is another controversial fish, we've had many Moderators step in and stop these threads.

Im not saying this particular thread, but many threads such as this. HEHE, we just need the USUAL members that like to talk too much and debate, LOL

i think debating things can result in learning from all involved.but i understand what you mean about some threads degrading quickly down a dead end

I think starting a debate about whether or not this will be locked will make it be locked faster...

Anyways, the thing to keep in mind is for most people the definition of 'hybrids' is limited to species level stuff, i.e. different species x = no no. However, variations/localities/strains are perfectly fine, and hence there will be hybrids of those. In this case, it really looks like a hybrid from different localities so... yar.

I don't consider two different collection points hybrids and I think a lot of people would agree. Calling a fish hybrid because its from two different locations is going to cause a lot of confusing.
