texas cichlid breathing hard

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
More than 2 to 3 degs temp change can kill some fish so temp should be adjusted slowly over hours not minutes.

are you talking about the initial acclimation time when first putting him in the tank? also the fish i think may be a little shocked because we didn't acclimate just put him in the tank..i know that's not really good to do that..also the temp now is at 84 because i was curing an oscar with ick. so now we turned the temp down some.

the bigest problem is you lack basic fish keeping knowledge.
But all of us were new to fish keeping at some time. Shoot I'm still learning its a never ending process just like life.

SSee how he is after a couple of hours of real good water flow. Sound like Ph and or temp shock to me witch can damage there gills

ich can also cause this problem.
I like to use copper safe to kill ich.
it cheap and you only have to put it in one time and no ramp adjustment needed

i been keeping fish for 18 yrs now.

Wow. Ich can eat the gills and can kill fish in hours.
Now both your tanks are infected with ich.
So you need to treat both tanks.
I like to use copper safe it kills a lot of problems including ich.
It's fairly cheep, and you only need to treat one time unlike most treatments. And you don't need to adjust temp.
So that poor fish has had to deal with Ph shock, temp shock and whatever else . And be put in a small tank of fish eating bugs.
Poor guy.
Now knowing your new to this. HOW DO YOU KNOW THE WATER IS GOOD?
DID YOU TEST IT? IF SO WHAT DID THE TEST SHOW FOR NITRITE AMMONIA, AND NITRATE?
PLEASE MAKE THE TOP OF THE WATER LOOK LIKE RAPIDS, THE FISH NEEDS OXYGEN. THAT'S y HE'S AT THE TOP GASPING

ok mr guru...just asking for opinions here

btw there's no more ick
