I see texas cichlid from two petco in different locations.
1 inch texas cichlid $1.90
2.5 inch texas cichlid $6.88
Have seen few small pearl spots with whitish body, not as pretty as ones posted on the forum, and labeled as "texas cichlid". So i wonder if these are green texas/escondido or blue texas?

The ones usually sold at Petco are Herichthys Cyanoguttatus and are silver/gray with white spots. While the Herichthys Carpintis usually have larger and greener/turquoise spots. The Carpintis are sometimes referred to as Green Texas.

thank u a lot for the information, i am glad that i haven't bought one yet. I was also suspecting that their price is too low for a green texas. On the forum, people usuall sa its about $10-$15 and in petco between $2-7 depending on size.
