Hey guys and gals, I am going to hopefully be going to pick this fish up tomorrow and I was wondering if I could tap into this great powder keg of knowledge that we know as MFK and get and ID on what this guy/gal is.

Here is a pic provided by the owner, she says its a Texas Cichlid thats blue in color. The tank its in is a 30 gallon and she estimates its size at 8-10" and says its 2 years old.

are you looking for a sex? or type? It is just a regular texas cichlid, just a cyano, not carpinte. Also I am willing to put money on it being deformed for being raised in such a small tank. just look at its spine.

It's a regular Texas Cichlid. *Cyanogutatus, or something like that... Cyano for short. Also known as Blue Texas.

Kinda sad that it's in such a small tank.

I can't tell the sex from the pics. I would say female, but it could just be a male in bad shape. There's really no way to tell from these pics, for me at least.

What do you think its worth? I was going to get it from her because of the tank size, I thought it looked "funny" but I thought that it might be from being underfed (sunken stomach).

Texas', naturally have a bit of a sunk in stomach look, but yes his is exceptional, and in my personal opinion, he is a bit stunted. Give him a good home. He is gorgeous.

that fish needs a bigger tank and it looks like it's been a small tank for far to long.
it is a cyano though, as of now, a pretty stressed one!

where'd you get it sonny?

that sure doesn't look like a sunk in stomach look.
looks more like a bent back from a small tank look!
