It looks H. carpintis to me, but there has probably been a lot of hybridization between the two species in the lfs market so if the fish does not come from a reputable dealer it is probably not possible to know with 100% certainty. So texas may be an apt name if you are not positive of the id, just like midevil.

I agree with rabham777 in miami canals filled with hybrid interbeed aquarium fish that tank owners buy 30 gallon tanks cichlid out grow tank.. They dump them in canal and thrive..very sad..people catch them put them in tanks and breed them..who knows with some off the back door aquarium shops
