ok so i know this thread is from a while back but i thought that the black blotch on the dorsal fin wasn't 100% accurate?

you look right in front of the anal fin on the underside of the fish. if it looks like oo it's a male, if it's Oo then it's a female. the second hole is the butt hole the first being the breeding tube. the female's is larger to pass eggs out of. i think that's about it, does anyone have anything else to add, did i forget anything?

Just for the record, female cyanos do not get the black blotch on the dorsal, this is a carpintas trait, I am sure there are some people who will argue, but I have caught many wild Cyanos here in Texas and have never seen a female Cyano with the black blotch on the dosal that Carpintas/Carpintas has.

ok i have a very general question here but what exactly is the difference between carpintas and cyano? i just got two little texans and i'd like to know what exactly i have since they were just labeled texas.
