Texas cichlid

Hmm that is a super vague question as colorful is subjective. I guess some type of red texas would be the most "colorful". But that is a hybrid. There is also different color varients of green and blue texas and there is also true texas cichlids (although I don't no much about what makes a true and a regular)

If your in the market for a texas just shop your lfs and see what they have and choose which ever one tickles your fancy.

There is really only 1 true Texas cichlid, Herichthys cyannoguttatus (and the hybrid).
There are a number of other Herichthys erroneously called Texas because they look similar, but are not from Texas.
They are all variants of Herichthys carpintus.
