Texas
Currently i am raising a hybrid batch of fry from a female texas cichlid and a male Dovii and i wanted to know what they will look like when they mature the only place i found that is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxIsgm-T8ZQ but they are of female dovii and male texas crosses i believe, witch would differ from what i have nothing else will survive in my 50 gal with that pair except a feather fin catfish they nearly killed a male texas, female parrot, managuense that double the dovii, a 10 inch male parrot, a black bull head catfish, and killed a my fav. blood parrot then played with the bones like a dog im still pulling bones out of that tank where my dovii just pulls them out of one of his hiding spots hopefully ill have videos of their progress shortly, from mom taking them from the nest to the nursery pits om up to current i hope i get good feedback

Congrats. I bet 1000 imaginary dollarsa lot of them are going to have more texas like body with texas markings but dovii colored type markings,I dont nkow why though. Hopefully you stick around to show progression rather than disappear like many do.

Usually what I see is the offspring generally retains the pearls from texan parents. Donno about other characteristics.

I know what you mean. Most texas hybrids I have seen had the texas being male though. I know that some traits are more effected by one sex than the other. Once I get back into fish I want to try male texas to female jaguar and vice versa.

well so far they were so far they hatched in april and an inch and half a lot of em are lookn pretty wild lookn long but also deeper bodied than a dovii with dovii shaped fins but longer like the fins on the texas and their markings have the lines of the dovii with blueish green metallic hues on their belly and and cheeks

another hybrid batch that was a mistake i had a while back between a female convict and a male texas the fry looked like a faded convict with very few but noticeable green pearls so i hope your right about what they might look like i hope with pearls from both parents their pearls will turn out nice

hopefully i find my usb cable or get another one soon

making a new batch hopefully close to 100% survival rate with just the pair in the tank with a feather fin as a dither fish since a convict or any other cichlid won't survive

the texas laid another batch of eggs and her fry are cleaning the off with out being attacked so once their done the fry are going to the LFS and then she'll hopefully lay again except with one other predator in the tank, then ill document this next hatch with a real camera and create a time-laps video of this hybrid's growth rate

this is a video of my pair
