Texas holy rock

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Texas holey rock is composed of limestone. As the limestone dissolves, it will increase the alkalinity of the water and raise the pH slightly.

So texas holey doesn't raise the Ph in your tank? Did in mine, hmmm.

FWIW: API Master Test Kit says my PH is at 7.0 every week Before WCs, 0 0 20-40 on everything else. But keep in mind I do a 50-60% water change and gravel vac weekly. My Tap puts out PH 7.0 So maybe that's a KEY Factor in this whole conversation about PH and Holey Rock...

Mike

Edit: And I treat with Seachem Prime weekly for water changes...

Those o's are amazing my holey rock doesnt seem to do anything but be a rock

Yes it does raise ph. so the good or bad of it depends on your fish species, what they do best in, the starting point of your water, etc. It 'can' be good for african cichlids, not ALL cichlids. IF a fish prefers high ph and your tap is low, something like holey rock may benefit color, but if your tap water is already high ph and gh, an increase will just increase hardwater deposits around your tanks and equipment unnecessarily. believe me, I learned that just using some CaribSea substrate on my small african tank. Got rid of it ALL and use neutral decor. africans are happy. Geos have some driftwood.

ps, there's a reason that some bathroom cleaners are made to "remove hardwater & lime deposits".
