So WHAT if it's stressed? Does it mean that if it's not stressed its markings will enlarge and make it a Carpinte? A stressed Carpinte or Cyanoguttatus or any other fish for that matter, does NOT shrink its markings. I doubt I'm the one embarrassing myself (take note of spelling). You should take a look at the number of people - reputable members at that - who have voted Cyano.

I'm not going to get into one of your famous slanging matches, let alone your petty spelling and/or gramma competition's. You're a joke.
I will however take a second to acknowledge this. Yes, a fishes marking's will become more defined in stress free condition's. Therefore appearing clearer and in turn somewhat larger. I have nothing further to say on the matter, so you can keep your kid's stuff to yourself tonight.

To the OP. I have no intension's of causing a reckess here and sincerely hope the bickering goes no further in your thread.

I honestly, genuinely disagree with the above. In the event that I'm wrong, will someone enlighten me? In what way does a stressed fish alter the inherent size of its markings? I have seen for myself the so-called "stress bars" on cichlids, but I have never seen larger or smaller markings on stressed or unstressed fish.

Got to love the Texas ID threads. They always having people saying cyano, carp, and hybrid.

It look cyano to me but I would let it get to 6 inches and post again so you can be for sure. All though I'll bet money you get all three answers again ;).

would taking a picture out of a stressful situation help? i have never used the net method but he was allllll the way n the back being stubborn. the spots are green the flash and my craptastic camera doesnt show that. does this help? let me know what u guys need for a good id:) oh and yes is is bout 2"

Of course stress changes the colors/markings, but the question at hand is whether this particular fish would be mistaken for others because of the changes?

........just so that we don't get upset arguing about different things.
