looks like your actual texas cichlid, the only one that actually lives in texas the cyanoguttatus they get a little bigger than the carpinte so be ready :)
 
im not an expert but,(not a guess) im saying carpintis...spot are lined or pattern and look too lrge in rear and though its still small facial pattern dont exactly say cyano. give it a month a lets see.

Too big spangles for cyano, that is a carpinte.

spangles do look big for a cyano, but im betting thats what it is. or a hybrid perhaps.

btw ^^ escondido is not a species, its a collection point if i am not mistaking. an escondido is a carpinte.

I think its a cyano as well. Heres 3 of mine and other than color, the spangles look identical sized to me, as well as the facial markings.

unless...mine arent 100% cyano. They should be though. Everything else I get from this vendor has been exactly what I ordered. If not, oh well.
