he has been spawning for the past week now but his stomache has been getting bigger I thought it was sperm now he is swimming funny and upside down like its a swim bladder problem...WHAT DO I DO I DONT WANNA LOSE HIM:confused::nilly:Epsom salt bath anything!!!

Sorry guys its too late he's gone I came home with the epsom salt and he was still breathing I immediately transfered him to a bucket that already had a little heater and sponge filter going I poured the epsom salt in there as quick as I could but he is gone. I'm devastated I had grown so attached to his personality first time ever in a fish this hits hard he depended on me for his life and I have failed.

Sorry bout the loss, that sucks

I have had the same problem in the past two seperate times with the texas cichlid, they litterally eat themselves to death.

Here he is all blown up and everything poor guy I feel so bad for him because he suffered in my ignorance.:wall:

And the thing I dont get is that he had NOT eaten in at least a week because he was spawning and guarding eggs, if he did eat, it was miniscule, how could he develop bloat if he wasn't even eating???

Bloat is brought on by poor water quality not overeating. Does look like the problem as the fish's eyes appear to be bugged out but hard to tell for sure.

My water parameters are almost perfect though.
Ammonia-0
Nitrates-0
Nitrites-0-.5
Ph-6.7
