^^^ THank you!! SO im in the process of getting the 10s ready now. Can someone suggest me feeding schedule and all that stuuff? I have hikari first bites
Jacks are already out. Any suggestions form here on out? My plan is just to let them grow out a little with the parents, and then move them to the 10s, then onto a 55. How should I attempt feeding them?
I don't think you need to worry too much about feeding them on a schedule. The couple times I had fry I feed them just like I fed the parents in the tank. 2x a day, once in the morning and once in the evening about 12 hours apart from each other. Add a little bit of your baby food/first bites stuff when you feed the parents and they should be fine. They won't need much and the leftovers the parents leave around will help as well. Fry are pretty tough and they'll find food. Don't worry too much man.
Far as leaving them in the tank, I think you could easily leave them in the tank until they are roughly a 1/4". At least I would assume. Most cichlids I have seen are awesome parents and you shouldn't need to worry.
I dip my finger in the water, then into the first bites, roll it up into a little ball then place it in the tank near the fry. Fry have a high metabolism and should be feed several times a day for the highest survial rate. Unless I'm really trying to keep the fry I usually don't feed at all and let the parents take care of them. I'd leave them with the parents for as long as possible 1",1.5", 2"? Then seem to grow faster with the parents.
Well a little update. I came home from work this mornig and all but about 30 of my fry were gone. No clue if they got sucked up in filter or what. I still have about 10 I'm gonna grow out and I gave my buddy the rest in turn for helping me tear down a 90, move a 150 and set up a 180 lol.
