Texas mixed with....?

Picked this guy up tonight. Clearly part Texas. Any opinions on the other mix?

Probably Jack Dempsey......there's not a lot of Cichlids Herichthys CAN hybridize with

I think I can even see a bit of reddish trim on the top of the saum

yea I really can't think of too many other cichlids they are closely related enough to hybridize with besides Amphilophus and I doubt it has any of that in it. I say Jack Dempsey, BUT the mouth/face does have a bit of a Thorichthys-look to it, which when hybridized w/ Amphilophus could give it that look. Maybe it was an attempt at a Red Texas, and this was a "throw-away"

Pretty sure they can, I've seen confirmed hybrids of mayan and jags. You should check out the hybrid thread. Wonder if it is a sticky?

Looks like Herichthys minkleyi to me.
