ive got a 100 gallon tank and am stocking it with about 3-4 catfish that get about 8-10" i also have a texas cichlid that i am putting in there wil an oscar be alright with it in the tank

Texas TEND (not always) to be more aggressive than Os so i would proceed with caution. Most Texas cichlids "get along" in a community tank setting... some are just plain mean, a few others are absolute terrors... taking on most anything live placed in their system. Might be an idea to have a divider handy.

well he's in a malawi community at the momement and he doesn't seem to aggresive so i'll try it and see

He will likely feel more threatened by another larger growing cichlid than he would by smaller Africans. There is less of a chance that he will get along with the Oscar. It may work out fine though. Good luck.

Just the change of tankmates and the introduction of an equal sized fish may intimidate him. If you wanted to go with those, I would add another equal sized fish, say a jd or gt, to avoid absolute focus on each other.

could i add 2 oscars in stead of 1 then there will be less bullying to 1 fish

Everyone(well ok not everyone but you know what I mean) does the 2 O thing. Id try the Texas thing but i'd also have a divider ready just in case. Which is bigger at the mo? If its a juvie Tex and and adult O then I think you would be ok. As already stated texas can be a tad unpredicatble at times.

the texas is about 4-5" i haven't got the o's yet the tank won't be set up for about 2 months so i want to buy the o's and put them in a 30l"x12d"x18h" so im thinking of buying them about 3-4" and growing them on a bit

Hmmmmmm, sorry I dont think it would work that way round. The Texas will think the tank is his and I imagine would bully on the smallers O's. They can be mean as hell. The one I had lived up to its name.
