here's an update . . . he's out of the quarantine tank and in the 90G with the bigger fish . . . there was a day or two of being chased by the Firemouth, and then a few days of him chasing the gymnos, but now everything is settled down (the gymnos are in a different tank) and no more hostility
I'd say he's grown about 50% bigger than when I first got him, and he's showing some nice pearling . . . doesn't come thru in the pic, but he's got tourquoise blue pearls on the body/fins, and then the fins have a really subtle red color, which I did not expect
also, I know I titled this post "Texas Rescue", but it's pretty clear (to me) that this is a Carpintis cichlid . . .
