I went to work, had the lights off in the tank, since activity isn't going on much,I come back to put in a egg crate divider into the tank, gave him 2ft of the tank to himself,I look at him and it seems like its getting worse, not sure if someone was attacking him or if its a parasite of some sort. Here is a picture of what it looks like now

I did partial water change, adding aquarium salt about 6 teaspoons of it,bumped up the temps to 82 degrees, added Kordon fish protector yesterday.I tried to look for neosporin, but can't find any around the house,I guess that would be my next attempt is the neosporin then.

Do NOT use Neosporin. Thats a skin ointment for HUMANS. Do lots of water changes to keep the water pristine as possible. Add salt. 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons. Good luck.

I did a water change on Friday, when should I attempt the next water change then?this is a 125 gallon aquarium, not sure if I put enough salt into the tank now.

He really needs a hospital tank where he won't be stressed and you can keep his water extremely clean.

And for the record, the chemical makeup of Neosporin is perfectly safe on animals, including fish. There's tons of info on the web if you research.

I agree with balton. With a wound that severe he needs to be completely isolated and stress-free... preferably in a small tank where you can focus on treating him and not worry about the other fish.

Just set up a 10 gal with a small heater and a small filter with media from your main tank. Keep the water as clean and aerated as possible and dose with Seachem StressGuard daily (this product is awesome). keep the lights off and the temp up (82) and place the tank somewhere calm.

Stop dosing salt.

What makes StressGuard™ very successful at healing is the fact that it contains protein active colloids. This protein active colloidal agent actively seeks out any wounds, abrasions, or places where exposed proteins are and attaches to this area to help directly deliver the disinfectant in the product and start the healing process. This protein active colloid, because it binds to the exposed proteins, also acts like a liquid bandage to the abrasion. Some products are marketed to be squirted in the bag when a fish is purchased. Those products are generally acidic, with some brands being a very strong acid. Putting such a product in a small, enclosed container with a fish often does more harm than any intended good. StressGuard™ has a pH of 7.0. It will not affect the pH of an aquarium, even at large doses. There are no other products on the market that can compare to the effectiveness of StressGuard™.

If he doesn't die, all that meat that's hanging off will completely fall off soon. It will turn into just a big open wound. From there it should slowly start to heal like a normal wound, the hole will get smaller and smaller and finally close up. You don't want it to get infected in the process, that's why some people use the Neosporin. Yours doesn't look to be infected at the moment so you can probably follow CAcichlids advice with good results. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
