A Hypsophrys nicaraguense is NOT the parrot cichlid. The parrot cichlid is a Hoplarchus psittacus, ie the parrot Cichlid.

M'bad, Im used to using the Aussie common name. Yeah no nic =/= parrot cichlid (unless you're in Australia).

I think the mix up maybe that H nicaraguense is also known as the Macaw cichlid...which is a type of parrot....

Yeah I've seen it being called a Macaw before. Prolly once it got to Australia it turned into Parrot. XD
