I believe it's a Carpinte and not a Cyanaguttatus (Texas). The pearling is to large and irregular. Beauty of a fish. Females will have a black blotch in the dorsal fin. Can't tell by your photo. Good luck with it.

Great looking carpintis..... Looks stocky and the pearlings on the body are very distinct and stand out !!!!
