Oh, by the way...nothing says that you can't use the foam from the seat cushions from an old couch or patio furniture. You can find things at Goodwill that are made of foam and at a fraction of the cost of what it will cost new. Also check craigslist.com in the free section for couch or seat cushion give-aways.

BUMP

Since there are requests for multi tank stands, I figured this needed a bump to the top again...

good luck with your projects,
Ron

A cautionary note needs to go here CHOMPERS. Especially for outdoor cushions, most have a chemical manufactured into them to fight mold/mildew & bacteria that could leach out and harm the fish. I tried an indoor cushion someone gave me once, one of the little voices told me to rinse it. Short story long after soaking and running water thru it for what seemed like hours, I never got clear water out of it. I got another one that turned out to have been a dog's bed, I didn't notice the smell till I got it wet, OMG... ...nuff said.

Like I say, you can't over-build or be too cautious. But you can be frugal (cheap) DIY Forever

Hey Chomper nice diy, i especially like the fact that you used reclaimed materials, i did the same, we have a curb-side "junk" pick up once a year here, got some major goodies, including two complete aquariums. Very Nice work!

bump for the person looking for sump/ wet dry plans. It starts on page 1, post ten.
good luck
Ron

Is that reclaimed plumbing or does the toilet still work? j/k very cool, I saw this in another thread on here a while back, I like the bait sign, very cool man.

I have been sitting on some of the update photos, so here they are. I modified the wet dry by running only bio-balls. However, I have recently packed it and the sump with pot scrubbers to prep them for a new filter project. I have also upgraded the pump from a 66gph to a 120 gph pump. The extra water was required to take advantage of all of my media. (and yes, the morning after I took advantage of it I appologized.)

The wet/dry filter:
