Thai Silk questions?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yup...but I don't think I want to go thru all the hassle...unless u give me 150+

I was addressing petzone not you. If your getting them for 150+ and you live in California there must be something seriously wrong with your connects lol.

I get them at 20 each...I will send to u for 150

They can range anywhere from 10 - 15 inches. 10 - 12 is more common. Thai silks are fertile so you can breed them.
How big is the fish in both tanks and how many?

All my fish are growing out at the moment but when the time comes they will all be introduced together......to answer you question, anywhere from 3 to 6 inches....

Do u have pics?
As far as housing goes if they have enough hiding spots they might be ok in the 750 with the other aggresive fish prolly would be more fit to be in there FH are aggressive.....I would prolly grow them out just a lil till they get big enough to defend themselves then put them into the 750....love to see some pics or vids of Ur tanks

I have posted some pic's but the tanks are almost bare because i am just growing them all out for now.

Hey Ivan, I thought that my eyes were playing tricks on me when I read this thread. lol Thai Silk are like any other FH as far as size & aggression goes, depends on the individual fish. Overall they should be able to hold their own with most of your fish.

Hey Neil, I thought you might find me..lol...Don't worry I am still keeping my stock as pure as I can, if I do get a breeding pair, they will be seperated into a 50gal..(maybe I can sell some fry to offset the expensive cost of NLS..lol...
Here is the story...I have allot of fish that will be red or yellow when mature..example, in my 750gal there will be Red terrors,Red devils,Red mota's,Red pikes,etc...do you see where I am going with this...no Blue fish....I do have carpinte in my 600gal....
I was originally going to try some Umbie's, untill I saw Mel O's video where his large male Umbie killed a breeding pair of Festae...
Blue Dempseys are to fragile and many have defomaties so my options are limited....
I have had the shoulder spot cichlid in the past but that is green not blue,
so I decided to go with thai silk, these have allot of blue on them...I was really surprised....
I am still not finished my fish room and the fish are all growing out, so it will look better by summer time.....

Well Ivan, needless to say I was a bit shocked to see you buying FH. lol

Love the creamsicle citrinellus! If you ever make a trip south feel free to bag some of those cits up for me. :D

As far Thai Silk go, genetics wise you can end up with weak strains, just like EBJD.
See the past discussion below for more info.

While BA's prices seem high, a lot of the FH that I've seen them bring in over the past few years (mostly in cowtown) were pretty decent quality. Up here you really can't expect much in the way of quality for $40. Hopefully you got lucky with this group.

Happy Holidays!
