Had heavy snow fall in my area yesterday. It caused a power outage that lasted a bit more than 2 hrs. Thank God I read the sticky for power outages or I would've lost my mind worrying about my 180 gallon tank. It just so happened that yesterday was w/c day so I had warm water in the Rubbermaid trashcan already. I remembered to stop feeding the fish. After a 1/2 hr and still no power, I floated all the media from my 3 filters. Although I read the sticky, I never did buy a battery powered air pump. Go out and buy one, everybody. I am. With no air pump, I remember from the sticky that I can dump buckets of water as an alternative. I was dumping water into the tank 5 gallon bucket at a time from the w/c anyways. 9 buckets!!!! I usually use a water pump for water changes. Boy, my arms are still sore today. Thank God it was only a 2 hr outage. All this done by candlelight BTW.
Thanks again, MFK. It certainly prepared me in what otherwise would've been a chaotic situation.
