Nice set-up! My 40B is a low-light set-up w/ my Bichir's and TT eel. ( surprizingly my eel leaves the plants alone for the most-part) And have to say.. I'm seriously thinking of putting the 37T plan in the garbage and re-doing the 40B instead.

and one can never have to many tanks!

Petco has apparently started their $1/gallon sale again so it looks like the 40B will be mine sooner than expected :) .
 
Do you dose any ferts or just diy co2? Also how long did it take for the vallineria to take hold and, take off. Mine produces runners like crazy but, don't grow any taller in any of my tanks.
 
I have mineralized topsoil capped with flourite. I was doing DIY CO2 at the beginning but to be honest I never kept up with it and I let the mixtures completely run out over the last couple months. Every now and again I will add some excel and dry ferts when the mood strikes, not much of a regiment though.

I think alot of the good growth for the vals and dwarf sag is from the mineralized top soil. Do you have a picture of your vals? Are you sure that that is what they are?
 
They are vallisneria I bought them as giant vallisneria but, very small leaves not very wide like what I was expecting? I'll go get a pic be back soon.

yeah those definitely look like vals...are they in the tank in your avatar? Is that them on the right?

You may want to add some root tabs as fertilizer.

That was them when I bought them but, seem to have melted some. I'll get some root tabs. Thanks
