Milky Way Galaxy,
Hey guys, my Bala's died =[ due to a heater maulfuntion in my pond... But now i got better ones. Now am left with 1 Blue Channel Cat, 1 ID Shark, and 2 tadpoles. The pond is heated up to 75F. 800gals. Any suggestions what to put?

High grade Japanese Koi. Should run ya between $20-$40 each for a 3-4 incher (if any cheaper, then most likey cheap quality Chinese Koi). Try to find a good distributor.

My supplier buys his koi from Pan-Intercorp in Kenmore, WA (biggest importer of Japanese Koi on Westcoast; red/white koi on Hikari food was bought from Pan Intercorp. They also sell koi online!)

I saw Koi for the first time last week in HUGE numbers at a local nursery who also sell them. They were beautiful, and very smart! If I had a large enough pond I would definately be looking at Koi

I like the one that is all white and has a redish dot on its head. Or the gold ones. And what does it mean by "High Grade"?

A high quality Japanese koi is going to run you more than $20-$40. A japanese grade yes, high grade... not quite.

I have many MANY koi ranging from high quality ($400) to cheap american bred ebay fish (.99) and honestly if your not into koi hardcore, more than likely the only difference you will see in the fish is the price!

If you want the best high quality American bred fish, contact SJ Koi in California.

Here's Pan-Intercorps Sale page for their koi- http://www.koi.com/sales/

They are in no way cheap.

And if you're going to keep other fish in the tank, like an arowana, I wouldn't even bother touching koi. Koi can be more complex than people think. They are not "just goldfish"..

I got my japanese koi from Norm at BridgeWay Koi also in Cali.

The ones in the bowl are from Japan- I have the middle (hi utsuri) and the top right (doitsu kohaku). the utsuri was $400, and the D.Kohaku was $350.

The other picture is my Kohaku from SJ Koi. Paid $75 for him, and he's already spawning with my females.
