That problem tank....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've got a 7gal bowfront that, in spite of a close watch, has killed some rare livebearers, a betta and something else, too. I quit using is years ago and now it just sits full of equipment.

My 70 with sand has caused some unpleasent noise to result from three different AC70 filters. The last one I installed with a media bag section banded around the intake, so that no sand could be "sucked" into the impeller. In less then 24 hours the darn thing began sporadic screaching! I have sand in one of my 55G's, and both of my 135G's. The 135's have two AC110's and the 55 just one, and no noise challenge to date.

I have a 20 gallon long tank and that is the only one that has given me any problems, I do water changes and it seems no matter what I try the water is always kind of murky, kind alooks like if you put a new peice of DW in the tank and its leaking tanin's into the water , only stock is a young JD about 4 inches and a sengal birchir about 5 inches ...

O and btw no their is not any drift wood in the tank, it has river rock as substrate , plent of fake plants some rock caves , the water is kept at 80 degrees , I have a hob filter that is rated at 350 gallons per hour and have a air stone .

I don't understand it , I am debating on tearing ti totally down and scrubbing everything and recycle it its driving me crazy have a #%^&! looking tank

I forgot to mention that I feed 2 tmes a day and do 50% water changes 2 times a week and replace the filter once a month

you might want to try a micron filter pad. you might have a lot of very tiny debris that never really settles. ive used them in the past when i have the green water problem. the pore spaces are so small in the filter pads that the tiny algae particles cant make it through.

my new 10 gallon tank i set up about 6 months ago. i cannot for the life of me get this tank to cycle. i was doing water changes almost everyday to keep the ammonia down and finally i just moved my fish to my 40 so they would be safe and the tank is running with no fish and hopefully it will work out soon.

wow you guys do have some problems, I ve had a few similar problems (with the fish dying or the awful alage that never ends). Its intresting. Glad to know Iam not alone.

Ya I have a 125g that has been nothing but a problem since the day I got it.

that stinks =[ you can try posting the issue here maybe we can help? we all seem to have problem tank experience lol.

My ex-GFs jewel cichlid tank is at my place. mild DIY Co2, dual t5 lighting on a 8 hour timer, flourish liquid and root tabs......All plants die in there...ALL. Currently there are some 4 leaf clover and red ludwigia in there getting choked out by some dark algae.

And she insisted on white gravel so her jewels look like mess.
