Yo yo,

as promised. Here are some of the pix of a tank that i came across during the weekend over in the south of Laos (Savanakhet to be precise).

The notable (and known by me) residents are various CKs, two bagarius's catfishes, several wallagos, possible juvi ARTC.

The fishes are in the restaurant on the raft on Mekong River,- they did not appear to be on the menu, though the waiter did inquire whether i wanted the bagarius for lunch (after he saw me staring/drooling at it) ;) when i asked whether they were for sale, the answer was yes: approx. 7 USD for the bagarius (alive or cooked).

Unfortunately, they do not have the compressor nor bags at the time. In any case, i do not have a quarantine space for them (as they appear to be wild caught) ... from the looks of it, the water change consists of adding mekong water to the set-up while removing the old water.

Heheheh i shall be returning downsouth again with equipment to get me a bagarius and wallago very shortly, i think. Just gotta stabilize my new aros first ;)

The last pix was of the feeder tank at the base of the aquarium.

Here are the pix of an ARTC? I don't think so, but i can not think of anything else.

Any thoughts?

Im gonna have to respectfully disagree. Aside from the obvious fact that this particular specimen doesnt have a red tail, the body coloration generally turns to a paleish blue, not brownish-yellow as this specimen has.

My guess would be some sort of hemibagrus.

Possibly:
Hemibagrus menoda
Hemibagrus hoevenii

BTW those are some friggin awesome cats. I was drooling.

:iagree: but to me it looks like hemibagrus variegatus, without the yellow markings, but that could be down to stress.

$7:jaw: Nice score! I like the gravity filter:D

I have never seen such a filter in my life also - talking about a ghetto set-up :D

I know - 7 bucks must seem really dirt cheap to most of you hehehehe like i said before, i am heading down there again later in JAN 09.

Talking about cheap? There was a 22kg live bagarius yarelli near my construction site for less than 50 bucks - pix coming soon :naughty:
